Kevin Khang Nguyen is a first-generation Vietnamese-Australian cinematographer based in Sydney, frequently working between his hometown of Brisbane and internationally.

Known for his empathetic approach, Kevin invites vulnerability and discovery throughout the creative process, prioritizing the quieter, nuanced moments of story and character interaction. With a sharp eye for lighting and a focus on moving audiences through evocative imagery, he naturally bridges Western and Eastern visual sensibilities to tell deeply resonant stories, particularly from under-represented communities.

Since making the bold leap from dentistry to cinematography, Kevin’s work has taken him globally, including recent campaigns shot across China and Mongolia. His diverse portfolio spans narrative short-form, commercials, and social ads for brands such as Gobi Cashmere, Smith’s Chips, HNRY, and Huanuo. He has lensed for a unique range of global figures, from music icons Jay Chou and The Hu, to internet legend Johnny Sins (yes, you read that right).

A graduate of the Master’s program at AFTRS, Kevin’s work has earned almost a dozen Australian Cinematographers Society (ACS) State Awards, including prestigious Gold Awards in both the Short Film and Documentary categories.

Kevin is available across Australia’s East Coast and Worldwide.
